About Pishdaad

Documentary Filmmaker, Director and Cinematographer‍

Pishdaad Modaressi Chahardehi is an Iranian-Pakistani filmmaker whose work explores identity, migration, community and the human stories hidden within wider social issues.

Born in Cologne into a filmmaking family, Pishdaad brings a second-generation diaspora perspective shaped by Iranian, Pakistani, German and British influences. His father, Hamid Reza Modaressi Chahardehi, was a filmmaker in Iran, creating a family legacy of visual storytelling that continues through Pishdaad’s own practice today.

Over more than a decade, he has created documentaries, short films, music videos and community-led projects across the UK and internationally.

His documentary approach is influenced by anthropology and built around patience, observation and trust. His work explores themes including displacement, memory, heritage, disability, mental health and resilience, often centring people and communities whose experiences are overlooked.

Pishdaad’s ethos is “Capture Every Moment”.
