About Pishdaad
Documentary Filmmaker, Director and Cinematographer
Pishdaad Modaressi Chahardehi is an Iranian-Pakistani filmmaker, director and cinematographer whose work focuses on people, identity and community.
Born in Cologne into a filmmaking family, storytelling has always been part of his life. His father, Hamid Modaressi, was a filmmaker in Iran, inspiring a family tradition that Pishdaad continues today.
After moving to the UK in 2012, Pishdaad became part of Bradford’s creative community and founded Anarchy Cinema Ltd in 2017. Since then, he has created documentaries, short films and community projects in the UK and internationally.
His filmmaking is built around listening, patience and trust. He often works with people and communities whose stories are rarely seen or heard, exploring subjects such as migration, heritage, disability, mental health and resilience.
Alongside his filmmaking, Pishdaad is completing postgraduate studies in Film Studies at the University of Manchester.
